Poker Hand Rankings

Poker is the game that gained in the last several years the most interest from all card games. No matter if you play live poker, video poker on the slot machines or online poker, you must know the ranking of the hands.We will present it to you here from the highest to the lowest rank. Hold’em, Omaha, Seven Card Stud, and Five Card Draw, all use this system of hand rankings. poker cards royal flush

Royal Flush. A Royal Flush is when you have all the cards from the same suite (color) ten through ace (ex.10♥,J♥,Q♥,K♥,A♥) . It's the best hand in poker. Note:All royal flushes are equal.

Straight Flush. A Straight Flush is when you have a five card sequence in the same suit (ex. 7♠, 6♠, 5♠, 4♠, 3♠). There are 40 possible straight flushes, here are included also the four royal flushes. An Ace can count as low, that means that A♥,2♥,3♥,4♥,5♥ is a valid straight flush, but the 5 count as the highest card, that means that this type is the lowest straight flush possible.

Four of a kind. It's w hen you have four cards of the same rank (ex. J,J,J, 10,J) . Between two four of a kind hands, the one with the higher set of four cards wins.

Full House. You hit a full house when you have three cards of a kind and a pair (ex. J♥, J♣, 5♣, 5♠, 5♥). In determining the highest Full House, first compare the three cards of the same kind, and if they are both the same, compare the pairs. Highest Full House is A,A,A,K,K.

Flush- Five cards of the same suit(color). When it appears this situation that two or more players have flush, the player with the highest card in the flush wins.If the highest cards are equal, then the second highest cards are compared; if those are equal too, then the third highest cards are compared and so on.

Straight. There are five cards in sequence of mixed suits. An ace can be either the highest card or the lowest card in a straight (ex. A, 2, 3, 4, 5, or A, K, Q, J, 10),The highest straight is the straight that contains the highest card. Note: A,2,3,4,5 is the lowest straight possible because 5 count as high card,not the Ace.

Three of a kind. When there are three cards of the same rank (ex. 7,7,7,A,J). When comparing two threes of a kind the hand in which the three equal cards are of higher rank is better. If those are equal, then the higher of the remaining cards wins the hand.

Two pairs. It's when you have two separate pairs. When comparing hands with two pairs, the hand with the highest pair wins.If those are equal, the the second pairs are compared. If those are equal too, then the odd cards are compared.

One pair- Two cards of the same rank. The hand with the higher pair is better. If those are equal, then the highest odd cards are compared.

High Card-The player that has the biggest card wins. It's the lowest hand in poker. Individual cards are ranked A (highest),K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 (the lowest).
